For the ants, this need to be sprayed in the line of the ants, or on the house from where the ant originates. It can also be sprayed in any small holes that may be there in the floors, from where ants are prone to come out.

For the bed bugs, the repellent can be sprayed generously in the bed. The bugs tend to come out of the bed, never to come back. However, it is always advised to spray it as a preventive measure for a few months, once a week, to make sure they do no come back.
